Hello everyone!
We would like to thank you for taking the time to visit our new homepage. Here we will be posting pictures and articles about the progress of our start up company. Right now A & D Family Gardens is a tender little sprout. We are just peaking above the soil ourselves but gosh darnit we are reaching for the sunshine!
A & D Family Gardens has it’s home base in sunny Oxnard, California. We both grew up here, ya know Ventura County local roots, we have family here and we want to be part of the commerce here.
Amy and David (that’s us, A & D) are thinking of various ideas for Donation Incentives. We want to give you the opportunity to support and “give us a boost” to help us reach our goals. When we reach our goals we will be able to service all of your landscaping and gardening needs. A & D would also like to you offer you a greener way of enjoying the outdoors by providing you with ideas on expanding beyond your basic green grass. Have you ever heard of a Victory Garden? Do you enjoy outdoor pets? What about fresh eggs? Wouldn’t it be wonderful to be able to feed your family fresh vegetables at dinner? Or cook all the gourmet meals you have seen on the Food Channel because you will have all the fresh herbs, berries and vegetables at your fingers. We can also support your needs for backyard chickens and have you even thought about composting? Inviting these small feather friends into your backyard garden will bring hours of enjoyment and an all natural soil amendment to add to your soil. Who knew chicken poop would be something that we actually thought would be beneficial? If you would have asked us that last year, well I don’t think we would be the only ones who would have thought you were crazy…… but I digress, let’s get back to what I was originally talking about: Donation Incentives.
♥ Share the Sunshine ♥
A & D Family Gardens admires the idea of “pay it forward”. If you are not familiar with this expression, I found a good description: “Pay It Forward” is used to describe the concept of asking that a good deed be repaid by having it done to others instead. Our donation campaign, “Share the Sunshine” will allow you to offer a donation to help us get from being a tender little sprout to a full glorious Sunflower reaching for the sun. Every donation we receive helps A & D Family Gardens grow and each harvest a portion of our bounty will be offered to a charity of our choosing along with fresh eggs. We will keep you all informed of who the recipient will be during the time of harvest. Recently we gave a small bouquet of mammoth sunflowers to a Senior Day Program.

A friend of ours has made a monetary donation via Pay Pal to our adfamilygardens@hotmail.com email address.
Miss Mary donated various sized plant pots and a huge metal bucket! Can’t wait, David has a great idea of planting some herbs in it, hmmmm, maybe even some salad greens?
We received an anonymous monetary donation for our strawberry patch and various packets of seeds. The berries are in the garden and safe from the strawberry hungry chickens. All of the seeds are currently germinating in Las Gallinas Greenhouse. We are getting ready to go to the Farmers Market and getting ready to put some fruits and vegetables on the table, yours and ours!
Our neighbor Paco has donated a few extra rakes that he was no longer using. We love giving new life to old rusty dusty tools. Please ask your friends, family and neighbors if they have any working equipment that they are no longer using and if they would like to donate them to a small local start up company.
You have seen a few pictures of our Las Gallinas Greenhouse on Facebook, sweetly nicknamed after our Las Gallinas which is Spanish for The Chickens. These hens are hungry for all of the goodness that lies beyond the greenhouse door. That greenhouse was donated by Bob. Rita donated a few of the plants inside like the jalapeños, habanero and other chili and pepper seeds that are germinating and sprouting. These seeds as well as cantaloupe, beets, various lettuces and other vegetables are growing inside a sprouting greenhouse all of which were donated by Priscilla and Marline. We also got our rototiller up and running again (whew!) thanks to Roy for donating his mechanic skills and time.
Thank you also to our many Facebook friends who are spreading the word about A & D Family Gardens. Everything you do to assist A & D Family Gardens will in turn help our future as well as the future of others. Eating and living healthily does not have to be an expensive struggle, lettuce help you. 🙂
